Meet Coach James

From today there will be a new face in the box, Coach James Perry.

James began his coaching career in 2013 and in that time has spent time as a Personal Trainer, CrossFit Coach and the Head Coach in CrossFit Bogota (Columbia) and CrossFit Weymouth. James is currently currently studying for L3 Diploma in exercise referral and L4 Personal Training specialising in lower back pain and plans to study towards becoming a Sports Massage Therapist to help with injury rehabilitation.

Let’s meet Coach James….

I’m 29 years old and originally from Somerset but have been living in Weymouth for the majority of my life. My main passion has always been in performing and playing music from small pub gigs to big shows all around the world. I’ve played drums for almost my whole life, basically since I was able to hold a pair of drumsticks. I’m a huge fan of Mötley Crüe, Ice cream and chicken wings and (thankfully) now CrossFit has become my my other passion!

I got started in training at the gym after I went through a serious illness and came out the other side wanting to be stronger than I ever was before. I soon realised that I wanted to help others and so I studied to become a personal trainer. I became fascinated with Olympic Weightlifting and wanted to start myself and the only place to do that was at a local “Crossfit”. I was hooked immediately and soon after took my Level 1 and moved from Personal Training into coaching groups at CrossFit Weymouth.

In 2015 I did a tour of South America playing drums in a band and found myself in love with Colombia. I came across a coaching position at CrossFit Bogota so I took my Level 2 and became the Head Coach. After a amazing year in Columbia I returned to the UK and continuing my coaching back in Weymouth.

I have continued to search for my next Journey and now I couldn’t be happier to find myself at Reebok CrossFit Thames!

I hope to bring a fresh and positive vibe to CrossFit Thames as well as some new ideas to help every member improve themselves in some way as well, as widening my own knowledge learning from all the coaches and members!

See you all in Class!
