Age: 26
Height: 6’1
Weight: 82kg

What do you do all day?
Worry about Fran.

Can you give us some of your benchmark stats?
Sumo deadlift @ 110kg. Backsquat @ 85kg. Push jerk @ 65kg. Box jump @ 45 inches. Cindy @ 16 rounds(assisted).

What is your athletic history?
I did the Dublin marathon a couple years ago, with a time that some people could genuinely beat walking. Otherwise not much.

Biggest Strength in the gym?
I show up.

Biggest Weakness?
I have a tendency to swear at inanimate objects during workouts, particularly the pull-up bar. That 27 Squat thing baffles me. I’m also not very good at constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements.

What’s your drink?
I’m very happy with a pint of beer to be honest.

What is your biggest fitness goal?
Short-term: get double-unders, kipping, and handstand push ups to a decent standard. Long term: Rx wods.

What do you enjoy most about Reebok CrossFit Thames?
Great place, great people. And they do CrossFit there.

What are some improvements you have made since joining Reebok CrossFit Thames?
Considering the fact that when I started crossfit in Dublin 6 months ago and my coach saw me “skipping” and said, with genuine bewilderment, “I’ve never seen that before”, I’m pretty happy that I can now skip with relative confidence. After that, literally everything.

Any advice for those new to Crossfit?
First off just show up. After that technique is the most important thing. There’s no point throwing yourself at a workout if the technique isn’t there because it won’t be effective and you’ll just end up hurting yourself. Try to relax and just trust that things will fall into place in their own time. Everyone has different strengths and the more frustrated you become with yourself the further you fall apart, so remain calm and just go again (I am probably not the best example of this philosophy, but it’s true nonetheless).

Most importantly, what do you think is the greatest sport movie of all time?
Raging Bull. Or if in the mood for something more intense, The Mighty Ducks.

Thanks Killian!
